Overview

Lakes, a Gurung mountain village and one of Nepal’s longest suspension bridges, all on one easy road trip from Kathmandu. The 4 Days Pokhara & Ghandruk Tour (3 nights / 4 days) takes you by private vehicle into the foothills of the Annapurna range for a night in Ghandruk (about 1,940 m), then via the dramatic Kushma Bridge over the Kali Gandaki gorge to Pokhara for two nights beside Phewa Lake. It is a richer version of our three-day Ghandruk trip, with a full day in Pokhara and extra stops on the way home.

Ghandruk is a showpiece of Gurung culture – flagstone lanes, slate-roofed stone houses, terraced millet fields and a village museum – set opposite Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna II and Machhapuchhre. After a morning walk and museum visit you drive down through Parbat to Kushma, where the Kushma–Gyadi suspension bridge, about 344 m long, spans a gorge more than 130 m deep; adventurous visitors can try the bungee, canyon swing or sky cycle (optional, at your own cost).

Your full day in Pokhara starts with sunrise on Sarangkot and a visit to Bindhyabasini Temple, followed by boating on Phewa Lake, Devi’s Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave and the giant Shiva statue at Pumdikot. In the evening you can join the lakeside aarti ceremony of lamps and chanting. On the way back to Kathmandu you stop at peaceful Begnas Lake and, time permitting, ride the cable car up to the hill town of Bandipur.

We collect you from your Kathmandu hotel at 7:00 am. The road follows the Trishuli and Marsyangdi valleys to Pokhara, then climbs west past Nayapul and up the Modi Khola valley towards Ghandruk, with the Annapurna range and Manaslu appearing along the way. Arrive in the late afternoon and watch the last light on the mountains from your hotel.

Day 02Ghandruk village walk and museum – Kushma Bridge – drive to Pokhara
Drive: about 4 hours with stops | Altitude: 822 m | Overnight: Pokhara

Start with sunrise over Annapurna South and a guided walking tour of the village and its Gurung Museum. After breakfast drive down to the Kali Gandaki at Kushma to walk across the Kushma–Gyadi suspension bridge, one of the longest and highest in Nepal. Thrill-seekers can try the bungee jump or canyon swing here (optional, own cost). Continue to Pokhara and check in near the lake.

Sightseeing by private vehicle with guide | Overnight: Pokhara

An early drive to Sarangkot for sunrise over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre, then stop at Bindhyabasini Temple on the way back for breakfast. Go boating on Phewa Lake to Tal Barahi Temple and visit Devi's Falls, where the water forms an underground tunnel about 150 m long, the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave and the 51 m Shiva statue of Pumdikot. In the evening join the aarti of lamps and devotional songs held on the lakeshore.

Drive: about 215 km / 7–8 hours | End of tour in Kathmandu

After breakfast, stop at the quiet Begnas Lake, ringed by fish farms and forest, before joining the highway to Kathmandu. If time permits you can ride the new cable car up to the old Newar town of Bandipur (own cost). Arrive in Kathmandu in the afternoon.

Notes for this tour

Pace and grade: This is an easy sightseeing tour with short walks on uneven stone steps and temple courtyards; it is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Road travel: Day 1 is a long drive (about 9 hours) from Kathmandu to Ghandruk by private vehicle; the last section is a rough mountain road. The return to Kathmandu takes about 7–8 hours. Hill roads are winding and travel times can vary with traffic, road works and weather – we stop regularly for tea, toilets and photographs. Please tell us if you suffer from motion sickness.
Mountain views: sunrise and sunset views of the Himalaya from Ghandruk and Sarangkot depend on clear weather. October–December and February–April usually offer the clearest skies; in the monsoon (June–September) clouds often hide the peaks after early morning. Mornings and evenings in the hills are cool – bring a warm layer.
Optional activities at Kushma Bridge (bungee, canyon swing, sky cycle) and the Bandipur cable car are paid locally.
What to bring: a warm layer for Ghandruk evenings and Sarangkot mornings, and comfortable walking shoes.
Flexibility: the order of sightseeing may be changed to suit festivals, temple closing times, flight schedules or road conditions, without missing any included visits.

(2) Balance 75% must reach us 30 days prior to tour departure date.

REFUND
After commencement of Travel, no refund in full or in part will be given for services includes in the program, which are not utilized.

HOTEL CHECK IN – CHECK OUT TIME
Generally, Hotel Check in 12:00 noon to 2 pm – Check out time is latest by 12:00 noon depend on hotel’s policy. Extended check in – check out time may be granted with additional price and subject to availability and agreement by the participating hotels.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
It is the Tour member responsibility to ensure that they have valid passports (at least 6 month valid from the date of arrival in Nepal) with empty page for visa and proper visas. Most of the national can get on arrival visa so please ask us well in advance.

Yes. Pokhara is Nepal's adventure capital – tandem paragliding from Sarangkot, the zip-flyer, ultralight flights, bungee jumping, the Annapurna cable car and boating can all be added to your free time. Tell us in advance and we will reserve the best time slot.

Mountain views depend on the weather. October to December and February to April usually give the clearest skies, and early mornings are best in every season. During the monsoon (June to September) clouds often hide the peaks after sunrise, but the scenery is lush and green.

You stay with a local family in a simple, clean room (often with a shared bathroom), eat home-cooked Nepali meals and take part in village life. The community usually welcomes guests with garlands and a cultural programme. Please dress modestly, remove shoes indoors and ask before taking photos.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of cancellation of tour / travel services – due to any avoidable / unavoidable reason, we must be informed in writing. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive advice in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows:-

Before 60 days – No cancellation charge.
From 60 days to 45 days – 10% of the total tour / service cost
From 45 days to 15 days – 15% of the total tour / service cost
From 15 days to 07 days – 25% of the total tour / service cost
From 07 days to 02 days (48 hrs) – 50% of the total tour / service cost
From 48 hours to arrival or NO SHOW – NO REFUND

In case of peak season hotel bookings a separate cancellation policy is applicable (which would be advised as and when required).
In case you cancel the trip after commencement, refund would be restricted to a limited amount, which too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers/contractors we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation & missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.
