Nepal’s capital and its lake city make a perfect pair, and the road between them is an adventure in itself. Our 5 Days Kathmandu & Pokhara Overland Tour is a private, easy-paced journey by car with a licensed guide: one evening among the sacred sites of Kathmandu, a full day on the scenic Prithvi Highway beside the Trishuli River, a day of sunrise views and sightseeing in Pokhara, and a sunset over the valley from Swayambhunath before you fly home.
Travelling overland lets you see the real Nepal between the cities – terraced hillsides, roadside bazaars, swaying suspension bridges, rafts on the river and small tea shops where drivers stop for a glass of milky chiya. It is also the best-value way to reach Pokhara, and your private vehicle means you can stop for photos whenever you like.
Pokhara (822 m) sits on the shore of Phewa Lake at the foot of the Annapurna range, and is famous for its relaxed Lakeside cafés, boating and some of the best mountain views in Nepal. From Sarangkot at dawn you see Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna I, Annapurna South and the iconic fishtail peak of Machhapuchhre glowing in the first light. In Kathmandu you visit Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath – three of the valley’s UNESCO-listed treasures.
Why choose this overland tour?
- Private car and driver throughout – comfortable, flexible and great value compared with flying.

Who is it for?

When to go
October to May offers the clearest mountain views; spring (March–April) brings rhododendron blooms. In the monsoon (June–September) the countryside is beautifully green, though mountain views are best early in the morning.
