Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia. Nepal is commonly divided into three physiographic areas: the Mountain, Hill, Siwalik region and Terai Regions. These ecological belts run east-west and are vertically intersected by Nepal’s major, north to south flowing river systems. The southern lowland plains or Terai bordering India are part of the northern rim of the Indo-Gangetic plains. They were formed and are fed by three major rivers: the Koshi, the Narayani, and the Karnali. This region has a subtropical to tropical climate.

Dhap Dam- The dam site is located at the North East part of Kathmandu district bordering with Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot districts. Geographically it is located at Lat. 27 48 18, Long. 85 27 21, Alt. 2067m amsl. Administratively, It lies at ward No 1 of Gokarneshwor Municipality of Kathmandu district. The area lies in the conservation zone within the territory of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
Dam site can be accessed through the two routes from Kathmandu valley. One is from Sundarijal area and another is from Sankhu area. The distance of site from Sundarijal is about 21 km and that from Sankhu is about 15 km only. The site can be accessed round the year through semi graveled earthen road from the both routes.
Nagarkot is one of the nearest and most famous Mountain View point from Kathmandu. Enjoy the sunset over the Himalayas. Nagarkot is situated 32 km east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2175 m above sea level. Nagarkot is a popular tourist spot of Nepal. The panorama of the major peaks of eastern Nepal Himalayas including Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest-if weather permits), can be seen from here). The Himalayan peaks Like Manaslu (8463 in). Ganesh Hinial (7111 in), Langtang (7246 in), Choba Bhanre (60l6 in), Gaurishanker (7134 m) and number (6957 in), are also clearly seen from Nagarkot).
Dhulikhel (1450 meters) at the Araniko Highway lies 30 km east of Kathmandu, described as the most popular viewpoint of the Himalayas. Newar and Tamang people dominated the town with tourism business. Travellers can observe terraced fields, valleys and the Himalayas. The mountains view can be glimpse, Langtang Lirung (7246 m), Gang Chhenpu (6297 m), Shishapangma (8013 m), Gur Karpori (6874 m), Dorje Lhakpa (6988 m), Gyalzen peak (6151 m), Phurbi Ghyachu (6722 m), Kharane Tippa (5647 m), Choba Bhamare (5970 m), Gauri-Shankar (7134 m), Melungtse (7181 m), and Lindartsubugo (6690 m).
Namo Buddha is a beautiful village with the sacred Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery. This hill station suggested the views of impressive snow-capped mountains, sunrise, sunset, terraced fields, villages and forests. The renowned Buddhist monks used homage for meditation, such as Vashu Bandhu, Atisha, Situ Chokyi Jungne (Kagyu Lama) and Rinpoche Lamas. There is a monastic school with 250 students, a meditation centre, a clinic, and a guest house. A couple of hours hiking from Balthali and Dhulikhel reaches the Namo Buddha.
Balthali is a typical Nepalese village situated in Panauti Valley. It is around 35 KM far from Kathmandu. This peaceful village is surrounded by green hills and typical fields of rice. Balthali is a place where we can find a diversity of culture. Its inhabitants have kept alive their traditions and their way of life since several generations. When visitors come to this village and stay with a local family, they really enjoy the opportunity to meet local people and share moments with them.
