Tibet is an autonomous part of China. It is bounded on the north and east by Central plain, on the west by Kashmir and on the south by Nepal, India and Bhutan. Most of Tibet sits atop a geological structure known as Tibetan plateau which includes the Himalaya and many of the highest mountain peaks of the world. Some of the mountain peaks that have been the source of attraction for people around the world for years are Changtse, Lhotse, Makalu, Gaurishankar, Mount Kailash, etc.
Tibet is probably the only destination among the Himalayas that’s not known for its adventure circuit as the rest are. But do not underestimate this destination as just another Trans-Himalaya area of the Himalaya. There’s much more to Tibet than Buddhism, monasteries and cold desert like weather.
The beauty and charm that this region includes is really splendid. Although most of the parts of Everest are more known as the parts of Nepal, trekking in this part of the world gives you some of the unexplored routes and views which really produce some strange and fresh feeling among the trekkers.
Apart from trekking, there are many more things awaiting the travelers to go through them and gather some of the newest and most remarkable moments in their life. Mountain biking from Lhasa to Kathmandu traversing the high roads in between gives a view of six major passes and some of the spectacular monastery town like Gyantse, Shigatse and Shegar is equally exciting.
Tibet also carries high religious importance. Lhasa, the land of Gods which is also the capital of this autonomous region, has numerous scenic spots and historical attractions among which Potala palace, Norbulingka, Drepung monastery, Jokhang temple, Ramoche temple, etc are most renowned. For well over a thousand years, pilgrims have journeyed Kailash Mansarovar to pay homage to the mountains mystery, circumambulating it is an ancient ritual devotion that continues to this day.
